• Never carry your PIN with you or write it on your card. Remember it and keep a record of it in a safe place instead.
• Treat your Pelican ATM or debit card just like your credit cards, checks, or cash... keep it secure and protect it.
• Compare your card receipts with your statements. Report any unauthorized transactions to PSCU immediately.
• Read the disclosure statement (Understanding Your Account). It constitutes the agreement between you and PSCU regarding usage, fees, terms and conditions of your Pelican plastic cards.

If you're planning to use your PSCU Visa Check Card or Credit Card while out of town or the country, please make sure you call PSCU before you leave to inform us of where you'll be traveling and when you'll be away. This allows us to verify that the transactions that occur outside of your usual area are actually yours. When you use your Visa Check Card or Visa Credit Card at a merchant that settles in currency other than U.S. dollars, the charge will be converted into the equivalent amount in U.S. dollars. The currency conversion rate used to determine the transaction amount in U.S. dollars is either a rate selected by Visa from the range of rates available in wholesale currency markets for the applicable central processing date, which rate may vary from the rate Visa itself received, or the government mandated rate in effect for the applicable central processing date. The conversion rate in effect on the processing date may differ from the rate in effect on the transaction date or posting date.

Visa USA charges PSCU a 0.8% International Service Assessment on all international transactions, regardless of whether there is a currency conversion. If there is a currency conversion, the International Service Assessment is 1% of the transaction. In either case, we will pass this international transaction fee of 0.8 or 1% onto you. An international transaction is any transaction where the merchant is located or based outside of the U.S.

You may have heard or read in the news that a settlement totalling $336 million has been reached by Visa/Mastercard regarding a lawsuit over foreign currency exchange fees charged to cardholders between February 1, 1996 and November 8, 2006. Litigants in the case claimed that Visa/Mastercard did not adequately disclose foreign transaction fees to cardholders. If you used your PSCU Visa credit or debit card for purchases or cash advances outside the United States during this period of time, you may be due a refund of foreign currency exchange fees that you paid.
