A Fun Fall Day: Pelican Hosts Free Kids Bike Race
MONROE, LOUISIANA - On Saturday, October 13, 2018, Pelican State Credit Union hosted a Free Kids Bike Race. 40 kids, 10 sponsors and 23 Pelican team members and student volunteers from ULM participated, making it a successful event.
Pelican team members led the group in a warm-up while the kids counted to 10 for each stretch. Kids ages 10–12 raced first followed by ages 6–9 and then kids under 5. Last but not least, it was the parents’ turn–dads, moms and the event DJ raced on the children’s bikes!
In addition to the races, there were refreshments, a bounce house, a fire truck, face painting, goody bags and other giveaways from sponsors. Parents and children also had the opportunity to win door prizes, including three parties for 10 at Altitude Trampoline Park! Pelican gave away over $1,000 worth of prizes and goodies at the event.
Sponsors of the event included: Lagniappe Broadcasting, Monroe Pediatrics, Car Town of Monroe, RL Traylor Enterprises, City of Monroe Firefighters, City of Monroe Police Department, Creed and Creed Law, Holistic Vibes, Xact Business Solutions and Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office.
The bike race was a completely free event, and parents were encouraged to leave their wallets at home. Many of Pelican’s Select Employer Group partners supported the event by providing goody bag items and monetary donations.
