Pelican Empowers Lake Charles with Financial Wellness
LAKE CHARLES, LOUISIANA – Pelican State Credit Union packed the house for its Free Credit Score Workshop on Thursday, November 8, 2018.
Everyone was invited! The free workshop was open to the public and took place at the Calcasieu Parish Public Library.
Attendees were treated to a jambalaya dinner from Chastain’s Food & Spirits along with cookies and drinks. Two guests won $50 Visa® gift cards and Pelican prize packs, and everyone had a chance to meet Pelican’s Lake Charles and Financial Outreach teams.
Pelican’s Director of Financial Outreach Jessica Sharon broke down credit reports and scores for 58 attendees. In addition to learning tips for improving and maintaining a healthy credit score, attendees asked countless questions after the presentation.
Sharon also recognized a member of the financial wellness program who was preparing to close on her new house thanks to the help of Pelican’s Nationally Certified Credit Counselor April Gomez.
Every member of Pelican has access to meet personally with one of Pelican’s Nationally Certified Credit Counselors and share their unique financial journey. Through Pelican’s financial wellness program, members can obtain the resources needed to make healthy financial decisions and better their current situations, whether it be rebuilding their credit or saving for retirement.
