As of Wednesday, March 18, our Shreveport branch is permanently closed.


We previously communicated to Shreveport members that the branch would permanently close in May. However, to minimize risk of exposure to illness and due to state and federal restrictions on the amount of people that can gather in one area, we are closing the branch earlier than expected.

Why is this Branch Closing?

Members have come to expect great service from Pelican, and we are honored to provide it each and every day! To live up to those expectations, we have developed some of the best mobile banking services and invested in partnerships that allow you to access your account at no cost anywhere, anytime.

This added convenience of transacting business without coming into a branch has become so popular with members that it has even reduced the usage of our Shreveport branch.

In addition to continuing to service your accounts and loans, Pelican will continue to serve our Shreveport Select Employer Group partners (SEGs), participate in Highland Financial Ministry’s Hand-Up Loan Program, provide Financial Wellness to local organizations, and support the community.


This closure will not affect your accounts or loans with Pelican, and we have several more ways for you to access your Pelican accounts and loans in-person and online at no cost to you.


Account Access Options

Visit a nearby branch: Access your account at 11 other credit unions located in Shreveport, Bossier City, Minden, Mansfield, and Springhill. Account access at these locations includes but is not limited to withdrawing funds, depositing funds, making loan payments, receiving loan advances, and transferring funds.

Use a nearby ATM for free: Withdraw funds from your Pelican account surcharge-free at 32 other ATMs in the Shreveport-Bossier area, including the city of Blanchard since Pelican is part of the Dolphin ATM Network. Click here to find an ATM near you.

Set up direct deposit: With direct deposit, you can have your paycheck directly deposited into your Pelican account by your employer. Every pay period the money automatically hits your account and can be used immediately for bills, cash, or any purpose. Sign up for direct deposit through the Human Resources department at your work if they offer it! You will need your Pelican account number (find it on your Pelican checks or call us if you need it) and Pelican’s routing number, 265473485, to set it up.

Pay your loans automatically: Contact us to set up a reoccurring loan payment from any account at Pelican or another financial institution, and your payment will be automatically processed each month without stepping foot in a branch or logging into your account online.

Apply for loans and open accounts online: You can open checking or savings account and apply for loans, credit cards, and more, all completely online. You can even sign electronically and have all documents emailed to you!

Pay your Pelican loans with a check from another financial institution: Checks are accepted by mail and at CO-OP Shared BranchTM locations. Please make checks payable to Pelican State Credit Union and mail them to PO Box 40088, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, 70835. Don’t want to use a stamp? Upload a picture of your check with remote deposit and transfer the payment to your loan—all from your smart phone using our PelicanMobile app.

Transfer funds to your Pelican accounts from other financial institutions: You can call us at 1-800-351-4877 or use our Online Payment Center, pelicanstatecu.com/paymentcenter, to quickly and securely make payments to your Pelican loans using an account, debit card, or credit card from another financial institution. All credit card types are accepted except for Visa®; all debit card types are accepted including Visa®. Fees may apply for this service.
