Our team of Nationally Certified Credit Counselors and Pelican State CU employees conduct a real life budgeting simulation for 50-80 of your 8th-12th grade students onsite for about 2 hours. This one of a kind, eye-opening experience offers students a glimpse into the future of making adult financial decisions and paying bills.

Students are assigned a profile complete with a job, salary, spouse and child. Then, they are required to "purchase" a home, car, groceries, entertainment, clothing and other items while staying within their budget. Our volunteers are on hand to tempt them with all the possibilities of fancy homes, cars and expensive clothing and food. At the end, each student returns to their seat to complete their budget and debrief on the exercise.

Use of a large room such as a gymnasium or lunch room is needed for this event, as well as 10 tables and chairs for the life stations.
