Since 2018, Pelican has partnered with Girl Scout Troops across Louisiana to empower these young women with the money-smart skills they need to be savvy savers and successful entrepreneurs in the future!
Girl Scouts of Louisiana East Troops are invited to tour their local Pelican branch to learn more about the ins and outs of the credit union operations. We provide an experience and the financial education necessary for all ages to prepare for money management skills, like budgeting, saving, and spending wisely.

What’s included in a branch tour?
The tours include a Financial Wellness Workshop, introductions to branch staff members with explanations of their job duties, and demonstrations of branch processes and technology. These demonstrations include:
- A presentation of the cash recyclers and how they’re used to take out and deposit money into accounts.
- A visit to the bank vault with an explanation of what it is.
- A visit to the Virtual Video Teller Machine and chat with the Video Teller to
learn more about the device.
Pelican understands that each troop is required to cover at least one financial education course per scouting year. By teaching money management skills, we want to help Girl Scouts of Louisiana East Troops of all ages prepare for long-term financial success (and cookie sales).
